note : il 1970 inizia con molte novità – Ickx torna alla Ferrari e Surtees si mette in proprio, Hill passa al team Walker e torna la De Tomaso, affidata al team di Frank Williams. Debutta la March, con ben cinque macchine , due uffIciali per Amon e Siffert ( il pilota svizzero in F1 dal 1962 per la priva volta corre per un team ufficiale), una alla STP per Andretti ma, sopratutto, due per il Team Tyrrell, con il quale corre il campione del mondo Stewart, Tyrrell e Stewart hanno, infatti, rotto con la Matra ed in attesa della Tyrrell 001 utilizzano la March. La Matra, dal canto suo, schiera una vettura con motore Matra Simca V12.
